As a new year comes to pass, I am filled with great vision and inspiration. Our world is becoming new before our eyes and we have the chance to co-create in this amazing time of shifting. It may feel turbulent and uncomfortable, but I hope that you will find empowerment in knowing that as you change, you change our world.

What if your new year’s focus was to love yourself? Can you step toward better self-compassion and self-nurture? We are taught about taking care of others – service, good will and charity – but very little is mentioned about how to care deeply for ourselves. The love yielded from people who first love themselves would move mountains.

Perhaps we might think that this makes us selfish. Being selfless is seen as heroic, but can we stop to ponder the meaning and importance of being ‘self-full’? Rather than ‘love your neighbours as you love yourself’, we have travelled astray and would be better to ‘love ourselves as we wish to love our neighbours.’

Our culture tends to promote giving. If we became more open and learned how to better receive, I believe we would see great change in our world. If we loved and trusted ourselves, we would be better equipped to trust others and then the flow of energy between giving and receiving would be more healthy and balanced. I have charted the most profound terrain in surrendering to receiving. I highly encourage you to give it a try. Allow others to bless you and offer you their love and support. Can you truly take it in?

For me, 2015 was full of tremendous learning opportunities, and I lean into 2016 with a clear direction. I am expanding and claiming the brilliance that is intended for me as I share my gifts with others. I have no specific resolutions but I am deeply peaceful in knowing that each passing day finds me new. Life is change and growth. I can resist this or I can work with it.

I wish you all the best of growth and new days in 2016. We stand together in creating our new world, one new day at a time!

New Today
I am new today
Yesterday has passed away
I step through the threshold
Let go of old stories I’ve told
And head for the light of gold
Fold up the plans no longer landing on the mark
Find connections that fuel the spark

I am new today
No longer the same, I change
Expanded with each new breath I drink
Renovated by the thoughts I think

If I blink I could miss this chance
This step in time, this cosmic dance
I glance behind me
To give thanks for the beauty
Of the layer I am shedding
Skin that doesn’t fit, I’m heading onward

Homeward bound
I have found a new track
The dents and cracks renewed
Fractures repaired
I am fluid
Flowing freely
Wrapped up neatly
In solid frame
A new game plan
I am new today

The world opens, unfolds
To see the gold I am to hold
I will stride true, walk through
The clouds thin, oh, what a view!
I am new today!
