Get Physically & Financially Fit

With a Masters Degree in sports psychology, experience coaching at the university level, several years spent running her own business and eight years in the financial industry, Louisa is able to provide her clients with knowledge and coaching so they can make well informed decisions when it comes to their financial portfolio. Louisa is an avid sports enthusiast and, while her knees don’t let her take part in action on the basketball court anymore, she loves to take her dog Sydney (who also has bad knees) for runs on the beach every evening.

It may be the Season To Be Jolly, however; it may take more effort than one can muster when considering the state of our world.

The combination of stress and less daylight makes it easier to slip into a hibernation mode. Therefore, it is the perfect time to dust off the sneakers, dig out a cozy sweat suit and head out for a brisk walk, easy run or over to your local gym. In order to make the experience more like fun than work, invite a friend or two to join you.

As a Financial Advisor with a background in playing and coaching sports, I see the fundamental principles of physical fitness as a perfect fit with those of financial fitness. I speak to many women who now live alone, are unfamiliar with investing for various reasons, and are insecure about becoming actively involved in their finances despite knowing they should.

A great way to ease into the investment world is to join an “Investment Club”. In the same way that asking friends to join you for a physical activity adds that little bit of motivation, joining an Investment Club helps you become accountable and makes learning about the financial markets more fun.

I have experienced this with the Canadian Federation of University Women here in the Parksville/Qualicum Beach area. We are in the process of finalizing our Investment Club and our 14 members have learned a great deal whilst enjoying the camaraderie of others.

With December 22 just around the corner, we can look forward to more light of day.

My wishes for a wonderful holiday season and an inspiring 2013.
