  1. I love this list. I use to go on Gabriola 30 years ago. I had an old friend named Woody, he worked for the ferry from what I remember. Also a friend nick-named “Namaste”. It is all so long ago, but it was wonderful times. I think of retiring on Gabriola, I have been looking at the real estate from time to time. I am in Sooke near Victoria. You do have Home and Community care on Gabriola right? I work for Public Health but still have a position with Island Health with Community Care as Interdisciplinary clerk and Health Unit Aide. Can you recommend a reasonable B&B where I could stay for a weekend and explore. I went last weekend just for a few hours, and saw that Sylva Bay pub is partly burned…sad. the island looks very different now. Thank you and Happy New Year.

    • Hi Claire!

Thank you for enjoying Gabriola through the eyes of my pen (typewriter). I’m delighted you have so much history here and would love to visit again. I’m sending you our Gabriola Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre website, but in case it doesn’t come through, could you let me know your email address, and I’ll provide you this other other great information about Gabriola including my video. I love living here, moving from Vancouver about 17 years ago.

Hope to hear from you soon. Carol Martin

FYI: for some reason the Chamber’s site is down, maybe a maintenance issue taking place. I’ll try again to connect to it and send you the link to the B&B’s.
