Write & Sleep Dog Decor

Evelyn M is an artist as well as an interior designer. She moved to Vancouver Island in 2005, settling between Campbell River and the Comox Valley. Her focus as an interior designer is to take the ideas of her clients to the next level, ensuring their needs are exceeded while staying within their budget. Evelyn also loves to write about her passions, and manages a Home and Garden blog and Facebook page for LocaLHomeSpot.com, a Campbell River Contractor Directory. Evelyn’s art is described as contemporary with a West coast flare; here at Island Woman her writing will cover topics on all aspects of design, Island style.

Since my oh so smart Golden Retriever has been writing her own blog (tee hee) since last August, I thought I would share some of her favourite decorative finds that fit into anyone’s budget starting with something you can really use, because functionality and cuteness is a paw-some combination.

Canine Chalkboards

With well over 100 different dog silhouettes – including two variations on the Golden Retriever, your fur-ever friend is sure to be represented. These chalkboards aren’t small; depending on the breed, they are approximately 22” long which is big enough for writing lists or fun picture drawings. Pre-positional and flexible, they have a sticky back for ease of attaching to most clean surfaces and when you want to change their location, simply peel them away and relocate.

I personally love the graphic appeal of the large black silhouette as well as the non-permanent aspect.  The fact that they are made from an eco-friendly chalkboard film coating makes them that much more exciting.

Aside from chalkboards, Steadfastfriends also makes some pretty cool temporary dog tattoos and for more information on them as well as the chalkboard click here.

Pooch Pillow Talk

Noelle Burke creates a series of minimalistic images that speak volumes. Her pooch pillow cases are a perfect example of simple silhouettes that create a huge impact without being cheesy. Her pillowcases come in pairs, in either standard (2-“x29” / 50.8×73.7cm), queen (20”x35” / 50.8×88.9cm) or king size (20”x40” / 50.8×101.6cm) and are screen-printed with permanent water based inks on a 300 thread count 100% Pima cotton fabric. The pillowcases come in white, green tea, mocha or cream.

Aside from pooch pillows, Noelle also has cats, birds, bunnies and three different graphics entitled “It”, “Pyramid” and “Infinity”. She also puts her images on other products like totes, scarfs and so much more. For more information on Noelle’s products click here.
