Women entrepreneurs in BC can learn to leverage the power of AI and other digital and tech innovations to support their business growth through a new program offered by WeBC and the Discovery Foundation.

As business owners are consistently under pressure to do more with less, Discovery Foundation’s Digital Strategic Leadership Program, presented by WeBC, helps participants look at their business through a digital lens, exploring solutions like AI, apps and eCommerce to improve their business performance.

“Tech developments can help businesses grow, but it’s not as simple as just signing up for a new tool; there are significant challenges — especially for small businesses,” says Shauna Harper, CEO of WeBC. “Between expensive consultants, system integrations and ethical issues, there’s a lot to consider and business owners can spend a lot of time and money developing tools that ultimately don’t help their business. With this program, women business owners are empowered to make informed decisions about the use of new technologies and which ones will add the most value.”

Discovery Foundation’s Digital Strategic Leadership Program is designed for women running tech-focused or tech-enabled businesses who want to improve their business performance using technology. The group sessions are complemented with one-on-one guidance to help women build a personalized digital strategy to improve their internal processes through automation, and/or enhance their customer experience.

Applications are now open for the three-month program, which starts in October. Thanks to funding from the Discovery Foundation, it costs $299 and is free for WeBC loan clients. WeBC’s loan program offers unique funding opportunities with complimentary support services to develop and strengthen businesses.

The program is open at all women entrepreneurs in BC who are actively operating a business for over two years and generating at least $200,000 in revenue. Priority is given to women who identify as a person with a disability, an immigrant, a person of colour, Indigenous or those who belong to the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Applications are open until September 15.
