Hey, it’s Sarah and Sean and we’re so excited to be part of the Island Woman team! We love Vancouver Island and all this beautiful area has to offer. As young professionals, we’re really excited to bring you a youthful take on Island living.
Among the most magical things about summer on Vancouver Island are the breathtaking sunsets. The other week we were lucky enough to be near Neck Point Park in Nanaimo when we saw the sun setting in the rearview mirror. The colors kept growing more intense and we just knew we had to catch a front row seat at the famous Sunset Beach.
You can find Sunset Beach in Neck Point Park, located just off Hammond Bay Road. As we pulled into the parking lot, we raced down the trail, worried that we would miss the spectacular show. As we rounded the last corner, the trees took on a fiery glow and then opened up to the most breathtaking view.
Aside from a small handful of people we were the only people on the beach. We picked a log of driftwood and settled in.
We couldn’t believe as the sun hit lower and lower on the horizon the colors changed from hues of reds to purples.
We kept snapping pictures until our cameras were full and out of battery, then we were forced to sit back, relax and just experience the setting sun.
Have you ever experienced one of Nanaimo’s fantastic sunsets from Neck Point Park?
