Wow … what a week. I had experienced some unpleasant energy over the last week and thought I would check in with others to see if I was alone. I wasn’t. Many people I knew, including myself, had experienced something fairly unpleasant and yet indefinable at first tinder. As the flame grew and then dampened, it became clear what the common thread was. Boundaries! No matter how old we are, how many experiences we have had or how clear we believe we are, there is always a need to revisit and redefine our boundaries. Personally and professionally, these change over time. New situations occur to reinforce that perhaps a new line in the sand needs to be drawn.

Does this mean you are a bad person? Difficult? Lack compassion? Selfish? No … it means you have a healthy respect for yourself and that you have clarity of vision. It provides others with a clear guideline as to where your personal and professional boundaries exist, and offers them courtesy and the knowledge that they, too, have boundaries. We have such a wonderful opportunity to change and evolve – to have compassion for ourselves and to allow for new growth. After all, that’s natural! Nature is very good about enforcing boundaries and does so regularly and unapologetically.

Vetiver essential oil (Vetiveria zizanoides) helps provide grounding, balance, support and energetic protection. It is an ancient heartbeat that allows us to slow down and contemplate our inner selves. Cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens) helps the mind to focus and increases concentration. It supports and assists in letting go of old energy that no longer serves (especially assists with grief) and enhances the ability to trust. Clove essential oil (Eugenia caryophyllata) helps to create an inner fire and the courage to say, “No, this is not okay with me.” It is the adult that holds our inner child’s hand and speaks up for our rights.

Boundary Enhancing Blend

  • 30 mls – sweet almond, coconut, apricot kernel or grapeseed oil
  • 3 drops of clove essential oil (Eugenia caryophyllata)
  • 3 drops of vetiver essential oil (Vetiveria zizanoides)
  • 9 drops of cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens)

Shake well before use. Do a skin test with a small amount on your inner wrist for skin sensitivity. Avoid in cases of high blood pressure.

  1. Thank you, Chelsea! So glad it spoke to you and that you are enjoying the blend. Happy Summer!

  2. This is great, Casey! I think it’s important to talk about the fact that boundaries are healthy and do not, in fact, make you a bad or selfish person. Boundaries seem to get a bad rap sometimes, so it’s good to keep the conversation going about how important they actually are. I also like the idea that your boundaries can help to make others aware that they are entitled to their own boundaries as well.

I also tried the blend and found it very grounding.
