Did you know that your energy, the energy of others  and of events can settle into your home, office, even the earth? As we move through these days of Covid and so many of us are staying in our homes, our energy is collecting and pooling around us, with the potential to become stagnant, blocked and even emotionally toxic.

Living in close proximity to each other over long periods of time can strain even the healthiest relationships. If you’re finding yourself feeling overwhelmed, despondent, touchy, irritable or under the weather, the solution could be to move those blues with a vigorous Energy Space Clearing of yourself, family and your home or office!

These are some of the tools and techniques I use when working with my clients and in my personal life and I’m happy to share them with you. I draw on many traditions, including Shamanism, Wicca and Paganism. Truly, all forms of healing that can do no harm in the least, and can facilitate deep healing in the extreme, are useful to know.

Let’s Start with Feathering:

Feathers and birds have long held symbolic significance for people. They can represent freedom, clearing and seeing the larger perspective. People have decorated themselves in bird feathers for religious, spiritual and leadership reasons, attaching specific importance to various species. For example, Eagles are revered all over the world as representing power, strength and illumination. An Eagle feather is believed to hold considerable healing energy and is often used in energy clearing ceremonies.

Hummingbird, on the other hand, is associated with Joy and the appreciation of beauty and lack of harsh judgement and Turkey holds the energy of generousity and sharing, hence the bird we share at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Be mindful when collecting feathers and working with them that there are laws in place to protect Eagles and other native birds from exploitation. If you are going to pick feathers from the ground, make sure you know which bird feathers you’re collecting.

I use feathers for clearing stuck or old energy from my client’s bodies. I call it Feathering. The method is simple and very powerful:

Have the person you’re clearing stand with enough space that you can freely move around them. In some traditions, moving counter-clockwise is believed to help release negative energy and moving clock-wise around the person brings in positive energy, If standing is an issue for them they can also be seated or lying on a table. Begin at the top of their head (if they are taller then you, you can use a chair to stand on).

Sweeping the feather over the top of their head in a strong, flicking motion. You’ll want a large, strong feather for this, such as a goose, hawk, swan or turkey. Proceed to swipe the feather over their face, shoulders, back etc. until you’re down at their feet, being sure to swipe all around their body, front, back and both sides. Hold the feather about 6 inches from them as you do this.

You can ask the person to raise their arms so you can sweep under their arms and down the sides of their body. You can also ask them to lift their feet.

As you move down their body, imagine that each swipe of the feather is pulling all and any pain, trauma and illness out of their body. If you feel pulled to a particular spot on their body, stay there and intensify your Feathering until you feel the blockage has been cleared.

Once you have swiped the feather down their body, you’ll want to do the same thing in reverse, all the way up to the top of their heads again, this time imagining that each swipe of your feather is pulling healing earth energy into their body.

As you reach the top of their head, swirl the feather over their Crown Chakra and then flick it upwards to connect the person to universal light and love through their Soul Chakra.

In my next article I’ll take you through how to Feather the rooms in your house for a full Home Energy Clearing. This technique moves a lot of energy, clearing many months, even years, of stored, stuck or blocked energy. Enjoy and let me know what questions you have!

  1. Dearest Megan ❤️❤️ Love all that you are doing .. love this article …. I have subletted my apartment in James Bay and have moved up North to the Peace Region to be near my girls fo help support both Lacey and Ciara ❤️❤️
    It was the right decision
Talking of feathers; I have an eagle feather that I’ve had since the early 90’s, it is always on the dashboard of my vehicle… whenever I have travelled over all the years of taking Lacey and Reilly back and forth to the Cariboo to be with their Dad… I always asked for a safe journey while on the highway… every time I travek… an eagle, or many eagles 🦅 swoop down from the sky to show me that I will have safe passage…
When I would out my apartment in less than 30 days in October… I was so depleted and exhausted…. and bowed my head many times over in the days that I did what was needed to ready my home for my new tenants… and at the end of it all… was so physically exhausted, yet had a long long journey to make to travel to my girls
I left on Saturday, Nov 8…. got on the ferry ⛴ travelled through the Fraser Canyon… and what did I see all along with the way… starting in Twsassen at the beginning of my journey… a huge eagle 🦅 swooped down… right in front of me… and as I travelled up that highway through the Fraser Canyon, Cache Creek, Clinton, Williams Lake, Quesnel, Prince George, through the Pine Pass, Chetwynd, then Taylor BC… a total of 6 eagles 🦅 swooped down into my vision over the highway, dipped their wings as if to say… “safe journey dear one… safe passage”…. each time I said thank you for my safe passage… I am ever to grateful
    Love to you all
You will always be dear to our hearts ♥️
    Much love, Annie ❤️❤️
