Hello Everyone, It’s been far too long

Rhonda has been in the Cosmetic Industry for 35 years now as a makeup artist and in cosmetic/skin care sales. She loves the business in cosmetics and still gets excited when new products come onto the market. Rhonda researches new products and ingredients voraciously, keeping up with trends. Over the years she has developed a love of natural ingredients and is passionate for essential oils. In her spare time, Rhonda formulates natural skin care products and essential oil blends.

So Covid hit and I was layed off from my job for 4 months.  I found this to be a very creative time for me as I used it to pursue my passion, formulating natural skincare products and blending essential oils.

Creating natural skincare takes a lot of time, in particular, researching natural ingredients and their benefits for your skin.

I found two fantastic books.  ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer – This book of Indiginous Wisdom gave me a newfound respect for plants,  I will never take the nature around me for granted again.

Also,  ‘Pacific Northwest Medicinal Plants’ by Scott Kloos.  Who knew that we have such an abundance of medicinal plants all around us here in the Valley.  Both these books changed my life.

One of the products I have been working on is a serum to revitalize hair and scalp.

I discovered two plants in particular, Horsetail and Stinging Nettle.

Both are abundant near my home in Cobble Hill, B.C.    Horsetail has one of the highest silica contents of any plant on earth, this plant can strengthen hair, improve circulation on scalp, stimulate new growth and help with dandruff.

Stinging Nettle nourishes scalp with vitamins and nutrients, strengthening hair and possibly preventing hair loss.

I was excited to harvest these plants to be used in an herbal infusion for a hair serum but also dried to be steeped into a tea and taken internally.

The health benefits are too many to list in this small article.

One day I hope to have an open cupboard lined with beautiful medicinal plant materials made into teas, herbal infusions and tinctures.

In the meantime, I have created an awesome hair serum.  Along with horsetail and nettle, a complex blend of essential oils as well as jojoba, argan and rosehip oils.

I’m not going to make ridiculous claims about any of my natural skincare products, I just love that I can create something beautiful  using only natural ingredients instead of chemical laden products on the market today.
