April 2013, California 013I love this time of the year! Today is one of those amazing days here in Victoria when the sun is shining and there’s not a cloud in the sky. It is the sort of day that makes me want to throw open all the windows and doors and invite the clean, spring air into my home. In fact, it is the energy of a spring cleaning!

There are two times each year when I highly recommend a full cleaning of your home: autumn and spring. There is something very empowering about taking charge of your home and giving it a full on polish and shine.

And I don’t mean a light dusting either. I mean a pull-the-sofa-and-fridge-out-from-the-wall kind of cleaning. I mean sweeping each corner and windexing every reflective surface. This sort of cleaning isn’t just about finding all the dust bunnies that have taken up residence in your home; it is also about moving the energy in your home and creating a new flow of happiness, contentment and abundance in your life.

May and June - Camp Pringle 004I do practice what I preach and this morning I began the process of a full home spring cleaning. Have you looked up into the corners of your rooms recently? My office/healing space ceiling was full of old spider webs and soot from the incense I light for each session I hold; the runners on my sliding deck door were filthy with dirt tramped in by kids, dogs and everyone else and the windows were streaked with finger prints and dust, most of which I only noticed because the sun was shining through them!

Pay special attention to your doorways and entrances. This is the place where the majority of the energy enters your home. Wash the front and back of your doors, clean the door frame and be sure to sweep your stoop or front entrance – inside and out.

October 2013 042The act of sweeping your home has special significance in clearing out old energy. Start with the room furthest from your main entrance and in the furthest corner from the doorway. Sweep towards the door and into the hall. Repeat this in each room, always sweeping towards the main entrance. When you get to the main entrance, open the door and grandly sweep all the dust and old energy out and into the street (or dust bin). You have now cleared your home in the most “witchy” of ways!

And remember to put on your favourite music, full blast, while you work. This is key to really connecting to what you are accomplishing in this exercise – a full, deep clean of your home, physically and energetically.

Then step back, sit down, enjoy a cup of tea and concentrate on how you feel now. Notice how clear you feel.  Pay special attention over the next few weeks as your life opens up and fills up with new energy, opportunities and abundance. Let me know how it goes. 🙂  Happy spring cleaning!
