The 2020 Provincial Election .

Posted | 2 comments

I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother; and spent my whole working life as a nurse. I was a "ban the bomber" in London in the sixties and a part of the back to earth movement of the seventies here on Vancouver Island. These experiences have made me who I am. I am me. I am an Island Woman. In retirement I now enjoy even more being an Island Woman.

Island Woman Magazine will actively support and encourage all the women  candidates on Vancouver Island that will be running in the upcoming October 24th 2020  provincial election.

images-1We invite the candidates initially to send us biographies of who they are, and why they are running for office.

We encourage them to state their values and their vision of what needs to be done to ensure that we can maintain and improve the quality of life that we enjoy here on Vancouver Island.

Most importantly, we ask them why we should vote for them.

During the campaign we will post the details of any meetings or announcements that they would like the public to know about.

We need more good quality women candidates, at all levels government,  and Island Woman Magazine will do all that we can to assist in this process.

  1. Thanks, Trish. Women need to be represented on ballots. It is 2020, and high time women had strong voices in all levels of governance, particularly in our Legislative Assembly.

    • Hi Lia, I fully agree. We need to assist those who try to enter this intimidating and daunting process to get them into the legislature. Trish
